"Happy Chocolate" featuring the internationally renowned artists Vangeline (New York) & Coco Villarreal (Mexico). This rare collaboration brings together two distinctive voices in Butoh for an evening of raw presence, emotional intensity, and embodied improvisation.
It marks their first onstage duet in 19 years, since performing together at the 2007 New York Butoh Festival.
But the night doesn’t end there.
Expect surprise guest artists and a vibrant open stage / jam session featuring live music and dance improvisation. Performers and audience members alike are invited to witness — and possibly join — an unfolding space of spontaneous creation, movement, and connection.

The program at Studio dB brings together experimental performances featuring three selected artists — presenting duets, group works, and solos — alongside the premiere of “Happy Chocolate,” a duet by Vangeline and Coco Villarreal, marking their first onstage reunion since performing together at the 2007 New York Butoh Festival, 19 years ago.
Doors open at 19:30 sharp. First performance begins at 20:30.
The night concludes with an interactive open stage / open jam, inviting audience members to join a live music and dance improvisation.

Dear Butoh Community,
We warmly invite Berlin-based and traveling Butoh artists to submit work for Raw Butoh Night Berlin, taking place on March 12, 2026 at Studio dB.
This evening is conceived as a gathering for shared presence, dance, and research—an opportunity to encounter Butoh in its depth and rawness, and to meet one another through performance and movement.
Selected Works: Three pieces will be (maximum 25 minutes each).

Guest Performance
The evening will be framed by Vangeline and Coco Villarreal, who will perform a raw duet, created specifically for this night.
